Preparation Steps
  1. Thoroughly wash the fresh oranges, peel them, and slice the orange peels into strips about 1/4 inch wide.
  2. Boil the sliced peels in a pot filled with cold water for about 10 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water.
  3. Combine equal parts water and granulated sugar in the pot, stirring until fully dissolved, then add the prepared peels.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the peels in the syrup for approximately 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Transfer the peels to a cooling rack lined with parchment paper to dry for a few hours or overnight.
  6. After drying, roll in extra sugar for a sweet finish, and store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
