Preparation Steps
- Thoroughly wash the fresh oranges, peel them, and slice the orange peels into strips about 1/4 inch wide.
- Boil the sliced peels in a pot filled with cold water for about 10 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water.
- Combine equal parts water and granulated sugar in the pot, stirring until fully dissolved, then add the prepared peels.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer the peels in the syrup for approximately 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Transfer the peels to a cooling rack lined with parchment paper to dry for a few hours or overnight.
- After drying, roll in extra sugar for a sweet finish, and store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
