Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of unsalted butter, ¾ cup of brown sugar, and ¾ cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix on low speed until just combined.
- Gently fold in 1 to 2 cups of chocolate chips and any optional mix-ins.
- Scoop portions of the dough and roll them into long ropes, twisting them into spirals on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and centers appear set.
- Let the twists cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
