Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add melted butter, an egg, and salt to the mixture, then gradually stir in all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic; allow to rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered.
  4. Mix together brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and softened butter for the filling.
  5. Punch down the risen dough, roll it out into a large rectangle, and spread the filling evenly.
  6. Tightly roll the dough into a log shape, cut into 12 equal pieces, and place in a greased baking dish to rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let cool for about 10 minutes, then frost the rolls and decorate with sprinkles or candy eyes.
