  • 1/4 cup water filtered water recommended
  • 2 tablespoons honey or liquid sweetener
  • 1/4 cup onion diced
  • 2 tablespoons green onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 piece chili pepper diced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds optional garnish
For the Eggs
  • 4 large eggs let sit at room temperature before boiling
  • 1 tablespoon salt for boiling
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar or rice vinegar

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the marinade by combining soy sauce, water, honey, onion, green onion, garlic, and chili pepper in a mixing bowl.
  2. Boil a pot of water with salt and vinegar, then gently add the eggs. Cook for 6-10 minutes depending on desired doneness.
  3. Prepare an ice water bath, and transfer cooked eggs into it for 5-10 minutes to halt cooking.
  4. Peel the cooled eggs, starting from the wider end for easier handling.
  5. Marinate the peeled eggs in the prepared marinade for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  6. Serve cold over rice or noodles, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
