Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring it hangs over the edges.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas until completely smooth (aim for about 1 cup of mashed banana).
  3. Add melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas and whisk until well combined.
  4. Gently add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in most of the chocolate chips, leaving a handful aside for topping.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the bars cool on a wire rack for about 20 minutes, then lift from the pan and cut into squares.
