- In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour, 3 eggs, ¼ cup of melted butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and the zest of one orange. Gradually mix in the activated yeast mixture.
- Knead the dough for about 5 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1 to 2 hours until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough, divide into three portions, and braid them. Place on a lined baking sheet and let rise again for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the braided loaf for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack completely. Mix 2 cups of powdered sugar with 2 to 4 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for the glaze. Drizzle over the bread and add sprinkles.
