For the Pastry
  • 1 can Refrigerated Crescent Roll Dough or Puff Pastry
For the Cheese Filling
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Can substitute with Pepper Jack.
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Can substitute with Gouda/Fontina.
For Assembly
  • 1 large Egg Omit for vegan option.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey for about 5-6 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  3. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the meat, pour in water, stir, and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Unroll the pastry dough onto a clean surface and press seams together to form a rectangle.
  5. Spread the seasoned meat mixture over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the filling, then add diced onion and green bell pepper.
  7. Roll the dough tightly around the filling, sealing seams securely.
  8. Place Cheesy Taco Sticks seam side down on the baking sheet. Beat the egg and brush it over the top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm with salsa, guacamole, or queso.
