Preparation Steps
- Combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of packed brown sugar, and ½ cup of pumpkin puree in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of ground ginger, ¼ teaspoon of grated nutmeg, and ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves. Whisk until smooth.
- Gently heat the syrup base just below a boil for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Lower the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens to the desired consistency.
- Remove from heat and whisk in 1 teaspoon each of maple and vanilla extract.
- Allow to cool for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a glass jar or airtight container for storage.
