Ingredients

For the Stir-Fry
  • 1 pound Ground Beef The main protein source that adds hearty flavor and richness.
  • 1/2 head Cabbage Provides crunch and essential nutrients; bok choy or kale work well too!
  • 8-10 pieces Shiitake Mushrooms Adds umami richness and chewy texture; substitute with regular mushrooms if needed.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce Infuses the dish with saltiness and depth; opt for low-sodium for a healthier choice.
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster Sauce Brings a hint of sweetness and enhances flavor; hoisin sauce serves as a great vegetarian swap.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Adds aromatic flavor; always best when fresh, but garlic powder can be a last-minute deal.
  • 1 thumb-sized piece Ginger Provides warmth and spice to the mix; fresh is ideal for vibrant flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil Introduces nuttiness; use sparingly for maximum impact.
For Garnish
  • 2 stalks Green Onions Provides a fresh, colorful touch; chives or cilantro can also add a unique flavor twist.
For Serving
  • 4 cups Rice (Steamed White or Cauliflower) Acts as a flavorful base; cauliflower rice is a fantastic low-carb alternative.

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Start by washing and chopping your ingredients. Dice about half a head of cabbage into bite-sized pieces, slice 8-10 shiitake mushrooms, and mince 2 cloves of garlic along with a thumb-sized piece of ginger.
  2. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and fully cooked.
  3. In the same skillet with the cooked ground beef, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir and sauté for approximately 1 minute, or until both are fragrant.
  4. Stir in the diced cabbage and sliced shiitake mushrooms into the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly, until the cabbage becomes tender.
  5. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Pour this mixture over the cooking beef and vegetables.
  6. Finally, slice a few green onions to use as a fresh garnish. Serve your stir-fry hot over steamed white rice or cauliflower rice.
