Step‑by‑Step Instructions

  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak for 4-5 minutes per side until golden. Rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  3. Rinse the rice under cold water. In a pot, heat olive oil, add rice and garlic powder, toast for 2 minutes. Add broth, bring to boil, then simmer until fluffy.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add milk and bring to simmer, then whisk in cheese and chili powder until smooth.
  5. Assemble by placing rice on plates, topping with sliced steak, and ladling queso over. Garnish with cilantro, lime, avocado, and jalapeños.
