Preparation Steps
- Start by rinsing each orange thoroughly under running water to remove any residues. While rinsing, gently rub a small amount of salt on the skin.
- Once the oranges are clean, carefully cut off the top quarter of each orange to create a lid.
- Sprinkle approximately 1 teaspoon of salt into the hollowed portion of each orange and poke small holes throughout the fruit’s flesh.
- Carefully place the tops back onto the oranges and position each orange in individual bowls or a steamer basket.
- Fill a pot with water, bring to a simmer, and place the bowl with the oranges over the simmering water. Cover and steam for about 20 minutes.
- Once steamed, remove from pot and serve by scooping out the tender orange segments or slicing into wedges.
